Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus,
Happy Thanksgiving! This day is known to be the day in which people give thanks for what they have in their lives. However, God calls us to always give thanks—not just on certain days! In every moment, whether it be good or bad, God always gives us something to be thankful for—even if it is hard to find. If we seek God and thank Him for His great love and wondrous blessings, we will see the light that He has shown us. We are called to thank the LORD for His love! “Worship the LORD with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs” (Psalm 100:2). We may find ourselves turning to God while taking up difficult crosses because He wants us to offer up our sufferings to Him. However, God also wants us to turn to Him in times of joy and gratitude! In Philippians 4:6, St. Paul says: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Whether you have just gotten a good grade on a test or you have just made the basketball team, thank God for all He continually does for you! No matter what comes our way—what obstacles we have to face or what crosses we are called to take up for the sake of Christ—we are called to be grateful to the Almighty Father. 1 Timohty 4:4 says: “For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving...” Therefore, we are called to trust in God’s steadfast love, for He is faithful and loving. “For the LORD is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations” (Psalm 100:5). As a faith community, let us give thanks to God as a Church and as individuals!
I hope your day is filled with the love of Christ! May the Holy Spirit guide you on this joyous day of Thanksgiving. God bless!
