What frustrates me mostly in #lifeis #activitieswithout a #goalafter which I could say, “Here, I’ve done it.” We do quite a bit of those, don’t we? From the moment we wake up until the moment we go to bed, there are not many things we do that have a measurable #result.
I don’t know what you do for living, but as for me, I hate doing work that can never end. That feeling that I keep going to the same place and will never have a final result to show is almost depressing. Yes, I know what you are thinking - job security. But what is the #definition of #security? “The state of being #freefrom danger or threat.” As I’ve said in one of the earlier posts, when fear is a #motivatorfor you to do something, usually that means that you are doing a wrong thing.
I don’t know how about you, but I feel a lot better when I have something to show that I’ve completed. Yes, there may not be many of those things, since I just keep starting a lot of new things and never finishing them, but what truly gives me joy is when I am able to start a #projectand finish it, without procrastinating and with something to show in the end. I don’t want people at my funeral to say something like, “He was a good starter.” I would want them to list things that I’ve done to #changesomeone’s life, even if it is one #person, or maybe even the entire #world.
I’d say we should stop doing things whose result cannot be measured and stop piling up things on our to-do list. We just need to determine the activities that don’t have a goal a drop them. If needed, replace them with more meaningful activities. What is the one change you would want to make in your life? What is that activity that you keep doing that you'd like to stop?
